Race News

The Washington DC Triathlon LLC regretfully announces the cancellation of the June 17 triathlon to be held in Washington DC . The event, which is held on National Park Service property, was recently denied the required Park Service permit for the 2012 race. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and the loss to the triathlon community. The event will work with those registered by transferring their registration on request to one of six races listed below or provide them a registration refund. Please note that race transfers and refunds are available only until March 28 when registration fees become non-refundable and non-transferrable.

On behalf of the Washington DC Triathlon staff, we apologize for the inconvenience and invite you to select from the following options regarding your race registration:

Option 1 - Transfer your registration
Option 2 - receive a full refund (race registration and USAT one day fee if applicable).

Should you choose to select to transfer your registration, you will be notified my March 31st with instructions on how to register for the new event. If you are a registered participant for the 2012 Washington DC Triathlon, please contact us to select your option.

	Welcome To DC Tri The 3rd Annual Washington DC Triathlon™ will take place Sunday, June 17th, 2012 in the nation’s capital. Brought to you by the producers of The Nation’s Triathlon™, this event features International and Sprint distance courses that offer breathtaking vistas, monumental landmarks and a finish line on America’s Main Street, Pennsylvania Avenue in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol Building. Athletes swim in the Potomac River, bike along DC’s most scenic parkways, and run through Washington’s monumental corridor

5150 Series

The 5150 series is an International distance triathlon consisting of: 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run. It is the largest international distance triathlon series in the world and is the first non-drafting international race series of its kind, offering a competitive platform for professional and age group athletes. The Hy-Vee Triathlon hosts the 5150 U.S. Championship, offering professional athletes the opportunity to compete for $1 million in prize money. DC Tri Pros On America's Main Street

Paul Matthews from Santa Cruz, CA and Alicia Kaye from Maynard, MA were the top pros in the 2nd Annual Washington DC Triathlon, part of the 5150 Triathlon Series, which took place today in the nation’s capital, featuring a field of more than 3,000 competitors, from 433 cities, 43 states and 11 countries, including 41 professional triathletes.

Clinic Series

The 2012 Tri Clinic Series will kick off on Saturday, January 7th. The 2012 series will include more clinics and swimming opportunities, as well as training guidelines and cool sponsor swag!

ACHIEVE

Achieve Kids Tri, Inc., is a non-profit organization that helps under-privileged and at-risk youth enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle.
Working in partnership with citywide Departments of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and YMCAs, ACHIEVE is a USA Triathlon (USAT)-supported youth development program that uses triathlon training and the fundamentals of swim, bike and run to help inner-city youth stay fit in a safe and enjoyable environment. The summer camp program includes the support of USAT-certified and trained coaches and staff, training equipment and is offered free of charge to youth ages 9-14.
