Getting to DC:
By Metro: The closest Metro stop to the race start in West Potomac Park is the Smithsonian Station on the Orange-Blue line. The closest Metro stop to the finish line is the Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter station on the Yellow-Green line. Both are located within four blocks of the race start and finish. By Plane: With 3 airports to choose from, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI), servicing more international and domestic locations than most other cities, Washington, DC is easy to reach.
By Train: DC’s Union Station is home to Amtrak, MARC and VRE trains, making travel to DC along the east coast fast and convenient.
By Car: The Transition Area is located at West Potomac Park. There is VERY limited parking at the Transition Area, it is recommended that all athletes take the shuttle from the Old Convention Center Parking Lot to the Transition Area. Please check back for directions to the Expo location.
By DC's Public Transportation System.
Triathletes can now plan their trips around DC using Google Maps online or with their mobile device. Riders can visit http://maps.google.com/, select “Get Directions” and the “public transit” icon, and enter their start and end address. This will give them the quickest route using DC's bus and rail system. People with mobile devices can use the Google Maps for Mobile application or by visiting the following URL on their phone’s browser: m.google.com/maps. To get directions from your hotel to the transition area, enter your destination as "FDR Memorial, Washington DC."
